See the difference an effective adjunct therapy can make.

When off-feed stresses result in animals suffering from vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies, recovery can look pretty bleak.

Nutrient deficiencies frequently occur in animals that are stressed or that experience conditions that result in inadequate feed intake. Catosal™ (10% Butaphosphan+cyanocobalamin) Sterile Solution treats and prevents vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies in dairy cattle, beef cattle and swine. It’s the first and only prescription B12 and phosphorus injectable, and the only one to feature Butaphosphan, a unique organic source of phosphorus.

Veterinarians and producers worldwide have turned to Catosal as an adjunct therapy. Now available in the U.S.

For use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

There are a lot of factors working against a recovering animal.

Whether caused by calving, shipping, environmental conditions or almost any situation, stress can result in serious problems, especially in recovering animals.

Stress causes cortisol to be released into the bloodstream, which can impair the immune response, cause loss of appetite, increase susceptibility to disease and reduce growth rate. In addition to the effects of cortisol, appetite loss in postpartum cows can result in ketosis.

Catosal can be an important adjunct in hastening recovery and minimizing the effects of nutrient deficiencies related to poor feed intake.

You need the right supportive therapy for optimal recovery.

Catosal: The simple addition to therapy.

The first and only prescription vitamin B12 and phosphorus injectable, Catosal prevents and treats deficiencies of vitamin B12 and phosphorus. Vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies may result in inappetence and stress, and may disrupt normal physiology.

As an adjunct therapy, Catosal provides B12, the vitamin compound associated with enhanced liver metabolism and an active healthy immune response, and Butaphosphan, a unique organic source of phosphorus.

Ketosis, Stress and Catosal.

Transition, stressed and convalescing animals frequently have elevated BHB (beta hydroxybutyrate) levels, making them predisposed to clinical ketosis. Ketosis can cause decreased feed intake and milk yield, as well as negative energy balance, fatty liver syndrome, fertility impairments and post-parturient disorders.

Study animals treated with Catosal demonstrated:

  • Restoration of appetite and accelerated recovery from ketosis.1
  • Recovery from clinical ketosis associated with left abomasal displacement.1

Choose the adjunct therapy with worldwide success.

When stress-related inappetence results in vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies, and sometimes related ketosis, the impact on your animals and your bottom line can be severe. For years, veterinarians worldwide have chosen the effective, economical adjunct therapy of Catosal to help resolve vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiencies in convalescing animals. It’s the simple addition to therapy.

At days 2 & 3, the Catosal groups had more healthy cows (P=0.0381 for day 2; P=0.0126 for day 3). Healthy cows were defined as ≥ 3 rumen movements per 3 minutes.

The Catosal group had lower beta hydroxybutyrate levels than the control group when compared to baseline (P=0.0592). BHB was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA test over time.
