Coraxis® is not approved for the treatment of adult Dirofilaria immitis.

FAQs

Why prescribe Coraxis® Topical Solution?

Graph of moxidectin plasma levels over 30 days after transdermal application.

See how transdermal moxidectin achieves and maintains high plasma levels, actively preventing Dirofilaria immitis all day, every day, for 30 days.

What are the active ingredients in Coraxis® Topical Solution?

The active ingredient is 2.5% moxidectin.

What are the dosing and frequency guidelines for Coraxis® Topical Solution?

Coraxis® can be administered to dogs and puppies 7 weeks of age and older that weigh at least 3 pounds. The recommended minimum dose is 1.1 mg/lb. (2.5 mg/kg) moxidectin, every 30 days by topical administration.

The transdermal formulation is rapidly absorbed, achieving and sustaining high plasma levels for 30 days. Coraxis® achieves a steady-state plasma concentration in the body after four consecutive monthly doses and maintains steady-state with continual monthly application; Coraxis® may be administered year-round.

Is Coraxis® Topical Solution still effective if my patients get wet after application?

Bathing 90 minutes after treatment and swimming 60 minutes after treatment does not reduce the effectiveness of Coraxis® in the prevention of heartworm disease.
