quellin® (carprofen) Soft Chews
quellin® (carprofen) Soft Chews is the only soft chew pain medication for dogs. quellin® soft chews are a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) created using Bayer patented soft-chew technology and made to strict Bayer quality standards.
quellin® is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of post-operative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.
quellin® was designed to be easy to give: simple for dogs to chew and simple for your clients to administer to their dogs. It has a savory meat flavor with no animal proteins and is scored to enable simple dosing and uniform active-ingredient distribution.
CAUTION: Federal law restricts quellin® to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
WARNINGS: Keep quellin® soft chew tablets out of reach of children. Not for human use. For use in dogs only. Do not use in cats. All dogs should undergo a thorough history and physical examination before initiation of NSAID therapy. Appropriate laboratory tests to establish hematological and serum biochemical baseline data prior to, and periodically during, administration of any NSAID should be considered.
PRECAUTIONS: Carprofen is an NSAID, and as with others in that class, adverse reactions may occur with its use. The most frequently reported effects have been gastrointestinal signs. Events involving suspected renal, hematologic, neurologic, dermatologic and hepatic effects have also been reported.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Carprofen should not be used in dogs exhibiting previous hypersensitivity to carprofen.

Always provide Client Information Sheet with prescription. Carefully consider the potential benefits and risks of carprofen and other treatment options before deciding to use carprofen. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response. The recommended dose for oral administration to dogs is 2 mg/lb. of body weight daily. The total daily dose may be administered as 2 mg/lb. of body weight once daily or divided and administered as 1 mg/lb. twice daily.
For the control of postoperative pain, administer approximately 2 hours before the procedure. quellin® soft chewable tablets are scored and dosage should be calculated in half-tablet increments. Soft chewable tablets can be halved by holding the tablet on each side of the score line and pressing up in the middle to break the tablet into two pieces. Care should be taken to ensure that the dog consumes the complete dose.
quellin® soft chews are scored and are easily divided for convenient dosing by your clients. The active ingredient is uniformly distributed in each chew so dosing remains accurate. Here’s how:
No. While quellin® contains no animal proteins of any sort, and may be useful for animals with allergies to those proteins, it does not contain hydrolyzed plant proteins nor has it been proven to be hypoallergenic.
In most dogs, improvement can be seen in a matter of days.
